Overview

TwineIn is an activity-based socializing app that helps people find the right company over recreational activities in a fast, fun and easy way. Users here are welcome to plan and schedule their preferred activity on their preferred day and timings while always having access to explore and join the plans made by other users. TwineIn facilitates the ‘users with plans’ to invite other users to join their plans while having the option to explore other plans and join them.

Role

At Whitegrid, our UX design agency, we collaborated with TwineIn to revamp their app’s user experience, with a primary focus on optimizing user flow, information architecture, and key screen designs to prioritize information more effectively. We completely restructured the information architecture to make a strong first impression, shifting the landing screen from "Explore Plans" to "Make a Plan," aligning it better with TwineIn's users' core needs.

Our team redesigned the main screens to be more visually appealing and intuitive, greatly enhancing the overall functionality. The "Make a Plan" process was also refined by incorporating valuable user feedback and adding features such as group plans, detailed descriptions, specific timing options, and privacy settings. These changes made the planning process more flexible, efficient, and tailored to the users' needs, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable experience for TwineIn’s audience.

For TwineIn, Whitegrid focused on making repetitive tasks, such as filling out forms, more engaging by breaking the process into manageable steps, and transforming what was previously tedious into a more enjoyable user experience. To improve usability and maintain consistency, we also redesigned the card layout, ensuring a seamless experience throughout the app.

User feedback was a crucial aspect of the redesign, so we integrated an easy-to-use feedback system directly within the chat window, allowing TwineIn to capture valuable insights in real time. Additionally, we introduced a robust support system that included an easily accessible FAQ section and feature-specific queries to assist users better, ensuring they had the resources they needed to navigate the app smoothly.

These changes were specifically designed to enhance the overall experience on **TwineIn**, making the app more intuitive, user-friendly, and satisfying to engage with.

Outcome

The results of Whitegrid's UX redesign for TwineIn were exceptional, leading to substantial improvements in user engagement and satisfaction. Following the redesign, 8% of all created plans led to successful in-person meet-ups, proving TwineIn's effectiveness in fostering real-world connections between users.

We also achieved a significant boost in user retention, with the retention rate by the fourth week reaching 25%, reflecting sustained interest and satisfaction with the new features and improved user experience. Furthermore, 60% of users who successfully created profiles proceeded to post their first plan, underscoring the strength of TwineIn's onboarding process and the enhanced motivation users felt to engage with the app’s core functionality.

These outcomes highlight Whitegrid's successful collaboration with TwineIn in driving meaningful user interactions and building a loyal, engaged user base, reinforcing the value of strategic, user-focused design solutions.
